for the love of coffee
Ahma is our love letter to coffee — and to the people and the places that shaped us. Each of our seatings features five courses of carefully curated single-origin coffees, paired with seasonal desserts made in-house to accentuate each cup.
Created by Josh Lu, a scientist-turned-chef previously at Michelin-starred Le Comptoir. Ahma is a place where every detail, from brewing method to temperature, is obsessively shaped with care, joy, and curiosity.
We're now accepting reservations for our F/W 2025 season, "Beginnings" — our opening chapter and a preview of what's to come.
1. What types of coffees will we be tasting?
Each experience features a curated selection of single-origin beans prepared via pour-over, espresso, cold brew, and sometimes even a coffee mocktail. Every cup is served in carefully chosen vessels, with water, temperature, and brew method tailored to highlight the coffee’s unique character.
2. Will there be food?
Yes — each coffee is paired with a seasonal dessert or bite made in-house to complement its flavor and story.
The full tasting lasts about two hours, from welcome to final course.
4. Do you offer decaf or low-caffeine options?
If you’d prefer decaf, just let us know when reserving on Resy. While some brews are more difficult to replicate, we can adapt at least a few of the courses using some of our favorite decaf beans.
5. Where is ahma? What’s the seating like?
Ahma is hosted in a private home in San Gabriel — a carefully designed, lovingly prepared space inspired by the quiet magic of Josh's grandmother's kitchen. We'll share the address and arrival details with your confirmation.
Each seating includes up to four guests at a single, shared table. If you'd prefer a private experience, you may book all 4 seats at the table.
6. Can I bring a friend who’s not a coffee person?
Absolutely — we love welcoming the coffee-curious and surprising them with what's possible through coffee.
